's Orchard grows on the soil of Nahalal – one of the first settlements in the Yezre'el Valley, which belongs to the Syrian-African rift valleys.
The plot was chosen due to the ideological history of the site as well as the fertility of the area. The claylike soil of the valley is rich in organic materials as a result of the sediments running down from the mountains and the remains of swamps which made up the area before the labor-intensive drying of the site by its determined residents.
The purpose of the orchard is to introduce man to the uniqueness of plants and their special beneficial characteristics in their natural state.
The orchard counts about 50 plant species which are the source for the extracts of the
's oils. The Orchard was planted as a continuation of a long lasting tradition of herbal healing and reciprocity between man and nature in The Land of Israel.
The orchard is planned and maintained in accordance with the "permaculture" method which imitates the laws of nature and thus helps prevent disease, soil pollution and water waste. This method enables us to practice organic growth, without the need for any chemicals which remain behind in plant's essences and thereafter reach the human body.
The principles of the "permaculture" method are based on variety and maximal utilization of the area which created by different dimensions of the garden, provides cover for the living creatures that act as natural pesticides, and allow planning in accordance with the characteristics of the soil. These principles increase the durability of the orchard and minimize our ecological footprint.
